UD athletics to emphasize First State connection
By Don Voltz

University of Delaware athletic teams will be showing their First State pride this season in a number of ways.

Delaware football fans will see an outline of the state of Delaware on the turf at the 50 yard line of Delaware Stadium this season, while a patch of the state will also adorn the game uniforms of all 21 intercollegiate teams at the school. The football jerseys will also have six small stars, representing the six national championships the football program has won.

In addition, members of the Delaware football team will enter the field at home games carrying both the Delaware state flag and the United States flag.

All of that is part of the Blue Hen State of Mind theme for the upcoming season.
