A Punkin Chunkin icon is dead.

Joe Thomas, better known as "Wolfman" at the annual Delaware event that's grown in popularity due to buzz from the Science Channel, has died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash in Seaford last month.

Thomas, a former Punkin Chunkin champion, wasn't wearing a helmet, when his motorcycle careened into a ditch, sending him headfirst in a utility box.

Thomas set a record one year at Punkin Chunkin by launching a pumpkin more than 4,000 feet.

He was 65.
