The Delaware Department of Correction, DOC, announced that David Pierce has been named Warden of Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna.

DOC says Pierce will replace Perry Phelps on August 25. Phelps was recently appointed Chief of the Bureau of Prisons.

Pierce will oversee the state's largest adult male correctional facility that holds about 2,500 individuals.

Pierce had previously been a Deputy Warden at Vaughn, a position he held since 2004. He joined the DOC as a Correctional Officer in 1996.
