By Michelle Provencher 8:06pm, September 21, 2013Distraction burglaries may pose a problem for New Castle County residents, specifically the elderly.
New Castle County Police Department says three incidents in the past two weeks have involved suspects going door-to-door offering cheap home improvements or other distractions to gain entry to the home.
One home was robbed in Brandywine Estates in Claymont, another on Carr Road in Wilmington and the last was in the Holly Oak Terrace community in Wilmington.
Police say the group of thieves' most common scams are paving driveways, sealing roofs or painting houses.
New Castle Police also say the suspects may claim to be utility workers.
The police warn all residents to ask for proper ID from any service employees who come to the door.
