Two teens from Wilmington were hospitalized Wednesday after police say they were struck by gunfire during a double shooting.

It happened around 7:40 p.m. in the area of W. 2nd and Franklin Streets.

Police say a 17-year-old boy was shot in his left shoulder and a 12-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to her buttocks.

Although it's not known if the victims were the intended target of the gunfire, police believe shots were fired from the area of Pleasant and N. Franklin Streets.

Both victims, who police say are unrelated, were taken to Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children and were last listed in stable condition.
