Delaware State holds off Savannah State 24-22
By Associated Press

Cory Murphy threw two touchdowns as Delaware State survived Savannah State's fourth quarter comeback to win 24-22.

Murphy only completed 8 of 19 passes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams, but they were big. He found Malik Golson for a 53-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Mitchell Ward for a 31-yard touchdown in the fourth.

Dae-Hon Cheung rushed for 90 yards and a score for the Hornets (1-4, 1-0).

Savannah State (1-4, 0-1) launched a furious comeback led by quarterback Antonio Bostick. Bostick found Jeremiah Harris for a 25-yard touchdown, getting the score to 24-16 with 5:29 to play. Bostick hit DeQuan Daniels for a 20-yard score on the Tigers' next possession to make it 24-22 with 2:08 left.

The two-point conversion attempt failed, and Murphy hit Milton Williams for a 12-yard first down on the next series, allowing Delaware State to run out the clock.
