The contract, recently ratified by the teacher's union, received final approval from Christina board members.

Teachers are getting a two percent pay increase in year one, with no increases in years two and three.

Superintendent Dr. Freeman Williams says the teachers will see other financial benefits that will offset static wages in the contract's later years.

Williams says the contract takes care of the teachers while keeping the district financially strong.

The $2.9 million dollar deal runs through the 2015-2016 school year.

In other action the board swore in its latest member, Elizabeth Paige.

Paige is a graduate of Christina schools and the University of Delaware, and has three children attending district schools.

Representing District F, Paige replaces Gina Backus who stepped down because of a job relocation.
