Sussex Co. to examine building height restrictions
By Mark Fowser

Sussex County Council decides to clarify regulations on building height restrictions, after learning that several structures that normally would have been limited to 42 feet were approved for 60 feet.

During Tuesday's discussion, Council member Vance Phillips says clarification will be beneficial, however...

"I think it's important that we put this in effect. We're talking about 60 feet. In Ocean City, as people try to compare 60 feet to Ocean City, you're talking about condominiums that are 200 to 300 feet tall, there's no comparison whatsoever," says Phillips.

An ordinance is being drafted for discussion and debate at a future meeting of Sussex County Council to clarify portions in the county building code related to building heights.
