State officials say seat belt use in Delaware is up over last year.

The state Office of Highway Safety says seat belt use has risen four percentage points to 92-percent statewide. That's higher than the national rate of 86-percent.

But the number of drivers not wearing seatbelts in fatal crashes is still too high at nearly 50-percent

Delaware law requires drivers and all passengers, including those in the back seat, to wear a seat belt.
