Gov. Markell (WDEL/File)
Governor Markell is appointed to the White House Task Force on Climate Preparedness.

President Obama appointed Markell to the panel Friday while he was in already Washington, D.C. for a workforce development forum.

Markell says the issue of climate change hits close to home for him because Delaware is one of the lowest-lying states in the nation, making it increasingly vulnerable to global warming.

Markell says he's honored by the appointment.
