By Carl Kanefsky 2:12pm, November 12, 2013The future looks bright for Saint Francis Healthcare, and for the people it serves.
WDEL's Carl Kanefsky has the story.
This past May, St. Francis Hospital's parent health care system entered into a merger, making the Wilmington facility part of a $14.3-billion system that dwarfs any other in the state.
Brian Dietz, Interim President & CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare, says the new system, and the new resources it brings, extends a long standing tradition of care.
"We have 89 years of service to the Wilmington area, and we take that commitment very seriously," Dietz says. "And we do everything we possibly can to ensure that we will provide quality services to the community, and will continue to ensure a bright future for our ministry in Delaware."
St. Francis recently added 11 new general surgeons, a new gastrointestinal service, and a weight loss surgery center of excellence.
"All these are really exciting things we've done to better position ourselves for a log-term viable future," says Dietz. "And we're really excited about it," he says.
