Reach Academy will close at the end of the school year.

State Education Secretary Mark Murphy won't recommend renewal for the girls charter school after he called it the "worst-performing" academically in the state.

Murphy says despite changes in Reach's leadership, student performance hasn't improved and the girls at Reach deserve "much better."

The school has been on probation since at least 2011. The state will help families transition to a new school in June of 2014. Reach families who need assistance can call a help line at 302.735.4169.

This is the second time this year a charter school has been slated for closure with the state Board of Education voting to revoke Pencader's charter in February. Pencader shut its doors for good in June.
