By Mellany Armstrong

A Wilmington man is arrested after leading police on a chase in the early morning hours.

Wilmington police say they were patrolling in the are of Baynard Boulevard and North Van Buren streets Thursday morning at 3:30 when they saw a speeding gray Mercury Sable headed their way.

The vehicle went through a red light, then came to a stop at North Broom when they put their siren on, but then the Sable took off when the officers got out of their car.

They say 35-year-old Antonio Cottingham speeded through the city before stopping on the 2900 block of North Madison Street. He refused to get out of car until more officers showed up. He was arrested and is in Howard Young prison. Cottingham is a convicted felon and had outstanding warrants on him.
