St. Georges Taronn Selby and Jiare Hicks each scored two touchdowns as the top seeds advanced to the DIAA Division II Football Championship with a 37-21 victory over No. 6 Woodbridge Friday night.
After claiming a 3-0 lead on their first drive on a 34-yard field goal by Patrick King, the Hawks again drove down the field, finishing off the drive with a 21-yard reverse by Keyjuan Selby which set up a 1-yard plunge and a 10-0 advantage.
Selby's brother Taronn then cut back off of a stretch play to finish a 6-yard run to make it 17-0 with under two minutes to go in the half, and after a forced fumble, the Hawks took a 24-0 lead at intermission when Zachary Wright found Hicks on a 23-yard connection.
Woodbridge took advantage of the halftime break by scheming a drive which ended with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Logan Wescott to Terryon Witkowski.
The Blue Raiders scored just under two minutes later when a Hawks' fumble was scooped up by Anthony Jefferson who raced 50 yards to cut the deficit to 10.
Taronn Selby would get his second score of the night by running right and eluding an attempted jersey-tail tackle for a 14-yard touchdown.
