Mount Pleasant overcomes huge deficit for the win

Mount Pleasant's basketball team trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half against Newark on Saturday afternoon, but the Green Knights battled its way back to a 44-43 victory.
Newark was running away with the nonconference match up early on. In the second, Jahsun Greer and Travis Holmes hit back-to-back threes to give the Yellowjackets a 25-7 edge.
Mount Pleasant began to turn things around, after Dashaun Holland scored the first of the Green Knights points in the second quarter. Holland started a 12-0 run, and brought Mount within six points.
Newark went into halftime with a 27-19 lead.
In the third quarter, Mount Pleasant held Newark to only six points but still trailed 33-29 going into the final quarter.
Mount's Dashaun Holland, tied the game 33-33 early in the fourth, but Greer, who finished with 21 points, went shot-for-shot with the Green Knights to keep the Yellowjackets in front.
With a little more than a 1:30 left in the game, Raheim Burnett picked up a steal and drove to the basket to lift the Green Knights 42-41. Greer stole the ball on the opposite end and gave the Yellowjackets the one point edge. But with 20 seconds left to go, Damiere Holland fought inside the paint for several rebounds before his shot fell to lift the Green Knights.
Mount Pleasant had fouls to give and burned the clock to 4.9 seconds, with the Yellowjackets having the last possession.
Newark had one final opportunity to come away with the victory, but Jahleel Collins deflected the Newark pass right into his teammates hands to secure the come-from-behind win.
Dashaun Holland led the Green Knights with 14 points.
The Green Knights improved to 3-1, while the Yellowjackets fell to 4-2.
