Wilmington chalks up first murder of 2014

Police in Wilmington are investigating the city's first murder of 2014.

It happened on the 1400 block of W. 3rd Street.

Officers arrived on site at about 8 p.m. Wednesday and found a man identified as 28-year-old Allen Whitt of Port Deposit, Maryland suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say Whitt was shot while in his car.
