The Phillies say longtime broadcaster Chris Wheeler is out after four decades with the team, and Gary Matthews isn't returning as color analyst

The team recently signed a new television contract with NBCUniversal and Comcast SportsNet that's reportedly worth $2.5 billion over 25 years.

The decision to replace Wheeler and Matthews came from the network, according to multiple sources. Both announcers are expected to remain with the team in some capacity.

Tom McCarthy and Gregg Murphy will continue to broadcast games on TV, with Comcast presumably looking for a color commentator - possibly a former Phillie.

Larry Andersen and Scott Franzke will remain in the radio booth.
