Wilm. police searching for attempted murder suspect

Wilmington police have identified the suspect wanted for attempted murder in a stabbing that occurred earlier this week.

Sykia Jones, a 36-year-old city resident who lives on the 400 block of Eastlawn Avenue, tried to kill another man with a knife on Thursday, police said.

Jones got into a fight with the victim on the 2400 block of N. Market Street around 6:40 a.m. He stabbed the man in the back before fleeing the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Anyone who encounters Jones is asked to call 911 and should not approach or try to apprehend him.
