Teen caught in Friday night gunfire

Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting which caught a 15-year-old boy in the crosshairs.

City Police reports the shots were fired near the 800 block of West Fifth Street Friday night.

At 8:46 p.m., officers responded to Wilmington Hospital where the teenage victim was seeking treatment for a bullet wound to the lower body.

An investigation suggests the teen was outside at Fourth and North Adams streets when he heard gunshots. He ran away for two blocks before he realized he had been shot.

The victim is listed in serious but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Wilmington Police or Crimestoppers.
