Work continues to find Wilmington its next police chief.

Mayor Dennis Williams tells Delaware's Morning News that the ongoing search is comprehensive.

"Well, we're weighing our options. We're looking at doing a national search and sometimes when you put people in positions there are other people that may have been good enough that you just haven't given them an opportunity, but you know, we're still going to be looking on the outside but there's people on the inside that will have an opportunity."

Williams says while raising the police chief's pay may make the job more attractive, especially to outside candidates, he's reluctant to pursue that since other city workers haven't gotten raises in several years.
