Crews cleaning up oil spill into SE Pa. river
Environmental officials say they are monitoring the cleanup a spill of about 1,000 gallons of crude oil into the Delaware River near Philadelphia.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection says a pipe ruptured Monday afternoon as crews were offloading the crude at the Monroe Energy refinery in Trainer, Delaware County.
Emergency responders from the department joined the Coast Guard and other members of an incident management team to assess the cleanup.
Officials said the spill was reported promptly, and the frigid weather and quick response helped minimize the impact of the spill.
