|VIDEO: Highlights and reaction to Salesianum's victory|
No. 1 Salesianum received another tough test from St. Elizabeth, but were able to advance with a 58-49 DIAA Quarterfinals victory Sunday.
St. Elizabeth might have been the 24th and final seed in the tournament, but they rallied from a 4-point halftime deficit to tie the game at 34 going into the final quarter.
Much like the teams' first meeting of the season back in January where St. Elizabeth had the game as close as 1 in the 4th quarter, Salesianum responded again as they went on a 5-minute, 15-4 run to claim a 51-40 lead.
The Vikings led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter behind 6 points from freshman Jordan Money.
Salesianum's Donte DiVincenzo was held scoreless until the 2:00 mark of the 3rd quarter, but center Brian O'Neill picked up 11 points and 6 rebounds in the first half to help his team lead 22-18 at the break.
Four Sals reached double figures, led by O'Neill's 17 points, David Barone's 14, Joe McCusker's 11, and 10 more from Shane Clark.
DiVincenzo only had 4 points, but did still dish out 5 assists while grabbing 8 rebounds as they improved to 20-2. They will face No. 4 Concord in the 2nd semifinal Thursday night.
