Questions remain over enforcement of Rehoboth smoking ban
By Mark Fowser

The chief circulator of a petition in favor of a beach smoking ban in Rehoboth Beach is pleased with Monday's vote by the commissioners to expand the smoking ban in the resort, effective May 15th.

But questions concerning enforcement remain.

"I think it will be self-enforced. I think once people know that's the law, if they do see somebody smoking, they'll say something. Now they have something on their side to kind of back them up," said Steve Curson, whose petition ramped up efforts on the issue.

The ban will also cover the Rehoboth boardwalk and the bandstand area.
