Police don't yet know why 75 year-old Dorothy Hershman of Newark, crossed the median of the highway in her Hyundai as she drove southbound on Library Avenue. She ran head-on into a northbound Honda Civic, driven by a 24 year-old woman and her 25-year old female passenger.

Both Hershman and the two women in the car she hit were treated and taken to Christiana Hospital. Hershman was later pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the Honda Civic suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released.

No charges have been filed in the accident.
