A Wilmington man with a long criminal record is headed behind bars for 30 years.

The state Attorney General's office says 27 year old Arthur Carter will be headed behind bars after police say he fired a gun at the door of a residence where his then-pregnant girlfriend was back in June of last year.

Carter took off but was caught. He was found guilty in January and is being sentenced as an habitual offender.

He's been convicted of eight crimes in the past starting when he was 14 years old.
