Backed by the belief that Wilmington's greatest asset is its neighborhoods, the city holds the 4th Annual Community Project Day Saturday.

The event gives people who live and work in Wilmington the opportunity to help beautify the city.

It's more than just giving the city a facelift. Mayor Williams says the event provides an opportunity for communities to engage and collaborate in a way that encourages continued partnerships.

Last year, volunteers from more than 70 groups, including civic associations, businesses, churches and schools, worked to enhance their communities with block clean ups, landscaping projects, and garden initiatives.

For this year's Community Project Day, New Castle County committed 20 volunteers to help ensure a greater reach, and an increase of community projects.

The event features a community gathering beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the City/County Building to celebrate the events' collective successes.
