Machado has suspension hearing; awaits verdict
By David Ginsburg/AP

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has stated his case for the reduction of the five-game suspension he received for intentionally throwing his bat on the field against Oakland on June 8.

Machado was given the suspension and fined an undisclosed amount on June 10. He immediately appealed the punishment and has been playing for Baltimore since that time.

Machado, his agent and Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette spoke with MLB official Joe Garagiola for about an hour Wednesday at the warehouse behind Camden Yards.

Machado says, "We got it done. Now it's just sit back and wait and see what is going to happen."

No verdict was announced. The Orioles hoped the decision would be rendered after Friday's split doubleheader against Tampa Bay.
