A man who's been a DNREC deputy for more than a decade will lead the department next month.

The state Senate confirmed Gov. Markell's nomination of David Small as cabinet secretary of the state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

Small is expected to be sworn in within 30 days.

Current DNREC Secretary Collin O'Mara announced last month that he'd be stepping down from the position in July for the top post at the National Wildlife Federation.
