Fireworks investigation leads to handgun arrest

An investigation for illegal fireworks on the 4th of July, lands a teenager behind bars for carrying a gun.

Police stopped a car in the 300 block of North Monroe Street Friday night, suspected of being involved with setting off fireworks.

The officers found illegal fireworks, as well as a loaded .25 caliber handgun in the waistband of one of the passengers in the car.

The teen is being held at the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 bail.
