Sparkman's eighth start since moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation was sparkling, as he tossed 6 1/3 no-hit innings before finally giving up a single to Winston-Salem's Joey DeMichele with one out in the 7th. That would be the only hit allowed in a season-high seven-inning outing.
Wilmington improved to 7-1 in Sparkman's eight starts, as he is 2-1 with a 1.13 ERA since switching roles. His only loss came in one of the Lynchburg back-to-back no-hitters of Wilmington last month.
