Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams says the gloves are off in the wake of a recent spat of shootings in the in which an undercover cop car was fired at and another in which a woman was caught and killed in the crossfire.

"We are sick of it and you know what? We are going to go out there, and we're going to deal with it. There is going to be no more lollipops and candy canes. We're going to deal with these gangsters because we've given them an opportunity to drop those guns, get in some programs, get off of those streets. I don't want to hear, 'Oh, I had a bad life.' Bunch of poppycock. They think they've had a bad life, they're getting ready to see one," said Williams.
