State troopers are searching for a couple behind a shooting that landed a 23-year-old man in serious condition.

Investigators say the victim was in the parking lot of the Sunset Station shopping center located on the 1800 block of Pulaski Highway in Bear, at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The victim was reportedly meeting up with the couple and joined them inside their car. That's when police say one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired off at least one round, wounding the victim in the upper body.

State police say the victim was able to get out of the car, and he fled to one of the businesses in the shopping center. The couple took off.

An ambulance brought the victim to Christiana Hospital, where he's listed in serious condition.
