President Reagan's press secretary Jim Brady died at age 73.
Brady was shot in the head during a 1981 attempt on the president's life and was partially paralyzed from the incident.
Brady and his wife Sarah lived in Dewey Beach for years and reaction is pouring in from those in the state who knew him.
Governor Markell calls Brady's death a "difficult loss." He says the man's advocacy work will inspire future generations.
Senator Coons says America has lost one of the most effective voices for a balanced policy on guns and gun violence in Brady.
Senator Carper said he was saddened to learn of Brady's passing, adding he first met Brady when he was state treasurer and Brady was working for Senator Roth.
Carper said countless American lives have been saved as a result of Brady's efforts to prevent gun violence.
