It's not often stolen property gets returned to the owners, but at least some people got their stuff back after Middletown police arrested a suspected thief taking property from cars.

Police say they conducted multiple investigations in July over missing electronics, money, jewelry and sunglasses taken from unlocked cars in Dove Run, Millbranch, Middletown Crossing and Middletown Village. They say the items were taken in the overnight hours.

Police took John McDonald into custody August 2nd on a suspected theft from an unlocked car in Townsend.

Detectives say they found additional evidence at McDonald’s home linking him to numerous thefts.

He was charged with eleven counts of burglary and other theft charges.

He was committed to Vaughn prison after failing to post $50,000 bail.

The recovered property was returned to the owners.
