Driver charged with firearms counts after traffic stop

Wilmington police say a Saturday night traffic stop resulted in a gun arrest.

Officers pulled over a pickup truck in the 800 block of North Spruce Street shortly before midnight for what police say was an equipment violation.

As the driver was coming to a stop, the passenger got into the back seat and laid down.

The cops told both men to get out of the truck, and saw a partly-open duffel bag under the driver's seat.

Police say the bag had a sawed-off shotgun inside, and there was a BB gun that looked like a real gun under the back seat.

29-year-old Ernest Williams was charged with firearms and traffic offenses.
