Wilmington police say the department's Safe Streets unit arrested 2 suspects and took a pair of guns off the streets this past week.

Police say 25-year-old Thomas Norris was acting suspiciously as he walked along the 14 hundred block of North Washington Street this past Monday.

When officers approached him, Norris pulled a gun from his waistband, and the cops told him to drop it, but instead, Norris threw the gun over the 14th Street Bridge and ran.

He was caught after a short chase and arrested.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Demeir Walker in the 16 hundred block of West 5th Street Saturday--police say he had a gun in his waistband.

Norris and Walker are both prohibited from having guns, and Norris is being held at the Howard Young Prison.
