By Jim Hilgen 10:39pm, November 19, 2012 - Updated 12:38pm, November 20, 2012With a fresh infusion of referendum dollars, Brandywine School District introduces a new Chief Financial Officer.
WDEL's Jim Hilgen reports.
Scott Kessel, who is set to take over as CFO, was introduced at the district's regular meeting.
Kessel says he's looks forward to managing the district's fiscal future.
"My job is going to be fiscally responsible with that money, and make sure that every dollar goes toward educating, and improving the lives of the children in the Brandywine School District, and that's my focus," Kessel says.
Kessel replaces David Blowman, who has moved on to Dover to serve as Deputy Secretary of Education.
Superintendent Mark Holodick says Kessel and the new perspectives he brings to the position is the right man for the job.
"Who will look at things differently and support our mission in this district. And as Scott has indicated tonight when he spoke, he is well aware of what our mission is in meeting the current educational challenges, and most importantly meeting the needs of kids," says Holodick.
Kessel says ensuring the district stretches the taxpayers money in educating the children will be his primary focus.
The hiring of Kessel in some ways resembles a sports trade.
Kessel comes to the district after working in Dover for the Department of Education.
