By Sean Greene 7:28pm, December 31, 2012The interior combination of Jamelle Hagains and Josh Brinkley combined for 31 points and 24 rebounds, as Delaware pounded its way to a 73-66 calendar-year ending victory over Rider Monday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Hagins, who entered the game as the second leading rebounder in the country, improved on his 12.2 average with 16 boards, including 7 offensive rebounds, to go with 14 points. Brinkley added a season-high 17 points along with 8 rebounds to push Delaware to their second straight victory for just the second time this year.
Jarvis Threatt and Devon Saddler both scored 12 points for Delaware, who had lost 4 straight to their opponents out of the MAAC. Delaware outrebounded the Broncs 52-31.
The Broncs erased a 7-point halftime deficit by taking a 62-61 lead with 6:14 left on a Shawn Valentine three pointer, but Saddler put Delaware ahead for good with a pair of free throws and then Saddler hit a conventional three point play.
