State police have released new details about a vehicle crash in Ogletown this afternoon that left a pedestrian in critical condition.

Police say it happened just before 12:30 p.m. when 77-year-old Catherine Engle of Newark was trying to cross the eastbound lanes of Rt.4 from the median when she was struck by a car operated by 23-year-old Steven Perkins of Bear.

County Paramedics say she was treated for head and possible internal injuries during transport to Christiana Hospital, where she's listed in critical condition.

Police say Perkins, who was properly restrained in his vehicle, was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing and police say the intersection of Ogletown Stanton Road at Harmony Road was closed for about two and a half hours while the scene clear and investigated.
