Wilmington University is teaming up with the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA) to offer scholarships, starting next fall, for Delawareans employed full-time in the non-profit sector.

Wilmington University President Dr. Jack Varsalona tells WDEL the program is the result of trying economic times that have forced non-profits to tighten their purse-strings.

"We have to do something to help them continue to go to school, in our case, and to help them learn ways to increase their income," says Varsalona.

Varsalona says once DANA determine what skills are needed, they'll develop courses to match that.

Varsalona says they've offered similar scholarship opportunities for police officers.

"Wehever they need help, we will provide scholarships for them because they do so much for us," says Varsalona.
