Anas Ben-Addi, Director of the Delaware Housing Authority delivers the latest weekly address. The Director of the state Housing Authority says has been awarded more than $5 million from the federal government to help low-income people with disabilities.
Filling in for Gov. Markell to deliver the latest weekly address, Anas Ben-Addi says Delaware was only one of the 13 states whose applications for the funding were approved.
"Without this program, many would likely be homeless or in long-term care facilities, which would cost us more money and is simply not the way they want to spend their lives," says Ben-Addi.
Ben-Addi says helping those with disabilities and low incomes should have opportunities to live independently and participate in their communities.
