Former city employee arrested on tampering, forgery charges

Wilmington police say a former city employee faces charges of theft, forgery and tampering with public records.

Donnae Park, who worked as an account entry clerk, allegedly tampered with the ledger systems in April 2012 and began issuing checks to false vendors.

Police say Park created 19 checks through March of this year, totaling about $31,000.

The investigation, conducted by police and auditors is ongoing. Parks turned herself into police today after warrants for her arrest were issued and she's been arraigned and released on $235,000 bond.

Police confirmed the discovery of the alleged fraud is part of a forensic audit ordered by Mayor Williams last month.
