Sixty volunteer firefighters from up and down the state get intensive front lines training on combating wildfires through the Delaware Forest Service.

They spent Saturday in Blackbird State Forest in Smyrna testing their physical stamina and their mental abilities through a live-burn fire simulation.

At the end of the training, recruits were given a coveted "red card" certification which enables them to dispatch to fight wildfires out west.
