Video: Highlights of TH vs. DMA boys lax and reactionTower Hill's senior lacrosse players lined up Friday night with their parents ready to take on an undefeated Delaware Military Academy squad in a non-conference game. The Hillers scored five consecutive goals in the first quarter and cruised to a 14-6 victory.
Senior William Mette scored first with an assist from Sam Murphy. Two minutes after Mette's goal, Andrew Pettit scored three times and Murphy tallied one to give the Hillers the big 5-0 lead.
DMA scored before the quarter was over with the help of freshman Paul Wolfe's goal. Wolfe has scored at least one goal in every game this season.
The Seahawks (9-1) closed in with 2:49 left in second, when senior Nathaniel Gemmato attacked the goal, but Pettit quickly answered to give the Hillers the 8-3 edge at the half. Pettit led all scorers with four goals and four assists.
The Hillers (9-1) opened the third with three straight goals from Benjamin Watson, Brett Hinckley, and Anthony Wallace to extend the lead 11-3.
DMA outscored Tower Hill 2-1 in the final quarter,and Hunter Coho scored his second goal of the night with 46 seconds left but it wouldn't be enough.
The Hillers out shot DMA 33-27. Tower Hill's Devin Shorey had 15 saves, while DMA's Alex Kurfuerst had 10.
Tower Hill will travel to Archmere (6-3) on Tuesday and try to extend their five game winning streak, while DMA will try to rebound from their first loss of the season on Monday against Polytech (8-1).
