By Peter MacArthur 12:23pm, September 1, 2013 - Updated 8:08am, September 2, 2013Summer is headed for a deep sleep in Bethany Monday for the 28th annual Jazz Funeral.
Organizer Paul Jankovic says it's a Labor Day tradition not unlike the fanfare surrounding funerals held for people in New Orleans.
"We have a mannequin in a casket and we march her down the boardwalk to the Bethany Beach bandstand and we quote-unquote bury summer at the Bethany Beach bandstand."
Jankovic says it's scheduled for 2:30 Monday afternoon and each year the event raises money for one of five charities with which it's affiliated.
This year proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity.
If it rains, the event will take place inside the Bethany Town Centre.
