St. Georges' Tarron Selby returned the opening kickoff of the season for a touchdown, starting a huge night for him and his Hawks in a 56-22 victory at Laurel Thursday night in the DFRC Kickoff Classic.

The Hawks found the end zone four times in the opening quarter, including grabbing a 20-0 lead just 5:10 into the contest on Tarron's long return, Tarron's 7-yard touchdown run, and a 5 yard dash by Tymiere Griffin following a Bulldog turnover.

Tarron's brother Keyjuan completed the first quarter scoring with a 61 yard run just moments after Laurel had gotten on the board with a kickoff return touchdown by Chuckie Auguste.

Tarron's third touchdown of the game came on their opening drive of the second quarter when he followed up a 79-yard run with a 2-yard dive to jump ahead 34-7.

Laurel took advantage of a muffed punt to get Auguste into the end zone on a 7-yard run with 1:19 to go before halftime, but Hawks' quarterback Zachary Wright found Austyn Warren on a 47-yard connection to give St. Georges a 41-14 lead at intermission.

The lead stretched to 35 when Wright hooked up with Tarron Selby on a 36-yard connection, with Griffin's two-point conversion run forcing the running clock.

St. Georges, who won all ten regular season games last season, will host Christiana next Saturday. Laurel hits the road for a 2-game road trip beginning at St. Elizabeth (Baynard Stadium) next Friday.
