By Don Voltz 5:50am, September 22, 2013Delaware had little trouble with Wagner as the Blue Hens rolled to a 49-9 win at Delaware Stadium Saturday night.
Delaware took just 78 seconds to get on the scoreboard, with a 6 play, 78 yard drive ending with a 19 yard pass from Trent Hurley to Nick Boyle finishing off the drive.
Wagner answered with a 41 yard field goal from David Lopez but the Blue Hens scored the next 35 points, including three touchdown passes from Hurley to Michael Johnson, for 77, 21 and 31 yards.
Johnson finished the game with 6 catches for 168 yards and three scores.
Delaware led at the half, 42-3.
The second half was played in a steady and, sometimes, driving rain.
By then most of the crowd of 15,723 had headed for the exits.
In the third quarter, Trevor Sasek got the Blue Hens only score of the second half with a 39 yard touchdown pass to Rob Jones.
The Seahawks scored their only touchdown with 2:55 left on a 5 yard run by quarterback Brian Gehring.
The Blue Hens raised their record to 3-1 while Wagner dropped to 1-3.
Next up for Delaware...a date at Delaware Stadium next Saturday against JMU at 7pm, their first CAA game of the 2013 season.
