Rep. John Carney (WDEL file)Delaware Congressman John Carney (D) says the House has put the government on the brink of a shutdown.
The Republican-run House voted 231-192 early Sunday to delay Obamacare for a year while also providing funds so federal offices won't have to close Tuesday morning.
But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says it will die in his chamber.
Democrats oppose the health care delay and another provision: A repeal of a medical device tax that helps finance the 2010 health care overhaul.
Carney says the House vote represents "the glaring, frustrating, and dangerous product of extremism and an absolute refusal to compromise" on the part of Republicans.
He says the GOP has yet to offer "a serious or sincere solution to this crisis -- a crisis they themselves have manufactured."
He says they've done little more than grandstand.
