Author of "Money Letters 2 my Daughter" Jackie Cummings Koski is stopping by the Delaware Financial Literacy Institutes "Purses to Portfolios" celebration Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help facilitate the conversation.
She offers one very important tip.
"Check your credit report as soon as you turn 18, and it's not that you are trying to get credit, but make sure your credit report is clean, if you've got a mortgage on there, if you've got a judgement, if you've got negative things on there, those aren't valid then because you were under 18," she says.
She says the only free place to get your credit report for free ishere.
She recommends you also check your credit score for free byclicking here.
