By Tom Lehman 11:13pm, November 4, 2013 - Updated 11:45am, November 5, 2013The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says more than a ton of sulfur dioxide was released into the air at the Delaware City Refinery.
The agency reports more than 2,750 pounds of the chemical compound was released from the refinery, which is owned by PBF Energy, around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
The chemical compound is considered to be hazardous by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The incident is under investigation by DNREC.
